Prior to setting up Selby Lowndes Solicitors in 2011, William was head of the family team at Darbys Solicitors in Oxford (now Knights plc), regarded as one of the top firms in the South East for family work. William qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and has specialised in family law ever since.
William has particular expertise in complex cases involving the division of finances on divorce or separation, including cases where there are significant assets, owner managed businesses, or farms. He also has a reputation for dealing with cases where there is an international element, or where parents want to take their child to live abroad.
William was appointed a Deputy District Judge in 2022 on the Western Circuit. He has lectured regularly on aspects of family law to teachers, school governors, doctors, accountants, and other professionals.
William is a trained Arbitrator (member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators) and collaborative lawyer.
In his spare time William enjoys sailing and walking with his 2 cocker spaniels.
